Apsara Centrepole Hotel Siem Reap Review

What I find really attractive about Apsara Centrepole Hotel is its excellent location in the heart of Siem Reap. Strategically located at Sok San Road, with an array of tourist-oriented amenities to the left and right of the hotel, such as massage parlours, pubs, and restaurants (including the famous Genevieve's Restaurant down the street). The hotel is also round the (quiet) corner from Siem Reap's bustling tourist artery, Sivatha Boulevard, and the infamous nightlife stop: Pub Street. For those needing some supermarket therapy, there's several at Sivatha Boulevard, including those that operate 24 hours a day. And for others who love night markets, there are several within walking distance!

Like many other hotels in Siem Reap, Apsara Centrepole Hotel provides complimentary one-way airport transfer on tuk-tuk, which is really nice for the first time visitor to Siem Reap, particularly after a long flight.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed and provided a cold towel and a welcome drink, as well as a plate of fresh cut fruits. It was a very lovely gesture. The services of the reception staff are very warm and friendly, and they remained so throughout our stay.

The Studio Twin Room we had is on the ground floor, and though the furnishings are tired, the room is spacious and clean. I noticed the presence of mosquitoes buzzing around in the room - which may be just a universal problem for any hotel in Siem Reap (I highly doubt mosquitoes have discriminate their hotel choices), however, I appreciate the effort of the staff in burning lemongrass aroma oil in the room and the corridor, which has insect repelling properties. In the room are a hairdryer and coffee-making facilities, which is very appreciated. Air-conditioning seemed weak initially but we soon found our room a very comfortable and cool retreat from the heat outdoors. Wi-Fi is good in the room.

À la carte breakfast is served at the restaurant next to the hotel lobby, with the availability of Western or Khmer hot meal choices, served with juice, fresh fruits and coffee/tea. The hospitable reception staff often come to greet guests during breakfast, which is very nice except for their uncanny intelligence on our travel plans and activities.

Guests may book tuk-tuks and tours from the reception desk and they are most happy to recommend quality tours by reputable companies. I booked a half-day tour to the floating villages on Tonlé Sap Lake through the hotel, and found it thoroughly enjoyable. Pick-up and drop-off at Apsara Centrepole Hotel was conveniently arranged, and the price was all-inclusive and scam-free - we could enjoy the experience of the floating villages without any pressures to make "charity" donations or buy sacks of rice from dubious floating markets for school children. I was very glad to have arranged the tour through Apsara Centrepole Hotel.
The hotel also features an awesome dipping pool, which, surrounded by the lush tropical foliage, makes great Instagram-worthy shots of your stay at Apsara Centrepole.

I also observed that the hotel's main doors are locked at night, and there was a security officer on duty 24 hours a day, for the guests' safety. The reception desk also operates round the clock. All these safety measures made me feel quite secure.
In all, I enjoyed my stay at Apsara Centrepole Hotel, and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit the Angkor temples.
